You just don’t get that welcome and feeling you would like. When asking about car prices that aren’t marked, they just kind of throw out a number and really hardly give you the time of day. Based off other people there and what I was hearing while waiting. If you take anything to sell or trade, they want a lot for a little. I’m all for local businesses making money. But dang. probably won’t go back.

I strongly recommend that anyone considering selling cards to this shop research every card yourself before accepting an offer. I learned that lesson the expensive way. Last month I brought in a group of cards that included a 1993-94 Fleer Ultra Michael Jordan Scoring Kings #5, a 1986 Fleer Chris Mullin, and a stack of additional cards. I received $200 for everything. I later learned that raw examples of the Jordan were selling for dramatically more than what I received for my entire lot. Of course condition matters enormously, particularly with a foil card like this, and I no longer have the card to have it professionally graded. I’m therefore not claiming mine was worth any particular amount or would have received any particular grade. But even after making very conservative allowances for condition, dealer margin, grading uncertainty, and the fact that a shop obviously cannot pay full retail, the difference was disturbing enough that I went back to the store and confronted the owner about the transaction. I asked to get the Jordan back. I was told it was no longer available because it had been given to the owner’s son. Yes, I accepted the $200. That was my mistake. I trusted that I was dealing with someone who knew considerably more about the current card market than I did, and I failed to independently research this particular card before selling it. I won’t make that mistake again. My advice to anyone selling here: know exactly what you have, check recent completed sales yourself, and decide what a reasonable dealer discount is before you walk through the door. Do not assume the offer you receive bears a reasonable relationship to current market value. I can’t undo my transaction. I can at least make sure the next person walks in better informed than I was.
